White House says spying on citizens authorized by Constitution
12/19/2005 Filed in: Politics
First thing this morning Alberto Gonzalez goes on The Today Show to push this story. Now at this very moment President Bush gives a press conference stating the exact same thing and then push the PATRIOT Act renewal.
The Constitution gives the President the power to be in office and grant other powers over certain branches of government; it doesn’t give the President the power to overrule the Constitution itself. It was written specifically to protect the citizens of this country from such actions because it’s authors had just left such a governmental structure. An elected official that overrules the law of the land; haven’t we seen this before?
